The Homemade Year

By Lilly Higgins

Things to make, do and eat at home to welcome every season

Lilly Higgins adds a third publication to her arsenal of popular cookery and lifestyle books with The Homemade Year, a creative handbook of seasonal crafts, projects and recipes inspired by the Irish calendar and Higgins’ own traditions. Readers are inspired to create a sustainable and happy home through an appreciation of the seasons and an imaginative, fulfilling use of everyday items, as Higgins redefines homemaking to suit a multitude of audiences in all stages of life. Tapping into current trends such as crafting, baking, slow living, eco-awareness and self-care, Higgins provides practical guides for a variety of projects that appeal to families, nature lovers, wellness advocates, DIY-ers and more. Her nostalgic anecdotes accompany valuable tips for getting the most out of readily available items, encouraging personal and Irish traditions while offering modern and sustainable ideas for contemporary homemaking. The Homemade Year contains six projects for each month of the year, including kid-friendly crafts like St. Patrick’s Day badges and natural tie dye, self-care ideas such as bath tea mix and sage bundles, and more complex activities such as paper-making and homemade kombucha.
