About Patricia Forde...

Patricia lives in Galway, in the west of Ireland. She has published many books for children, in Irish and English, as well as plays, soap operas and television drama series. In another life, she was a primary school teacher and the artistic director of Galway Arts Festival. Two of her novels with Little Island, Bumpfizzle the Best on Planet Earth and The Wordsmith, a Library Association of America Notable Book for Children (published in the USA by SourceBooks as The List), were awarded White Raven awards by the International Youth Library. Her picturebook To the Island was co-published by Little Island and Galway 2020 European City of Culture. She is Laureate na nÓg (Ireland’s Children’s Literature Laureate) 2023-2026.
