Death of former IBAS Chairman, John Treacy

It was with deep regret that we received the news of the death of John Treacy, our friend, colleague, serving board member, and twice chairman of the An Post Irish Book Awards.

John was one of the founding members of the Awards and an early sponsor during the formative years of the early 2000s. John loved the Awards and brought his infectious enthusiasm and vast experience in the book business to everything he did in the service of the awards,

In 1974, John and his wife Caroline founded International Education Services (I.E.S. Ltd) which. quickly became the largest supplier of children's and adult books to public libraries, schools, local authorities & government departments throughout Ireland.

For his services to the Irish book trade, John won The O’Brien Press Bookseller of the Year award In 2014. John was also a past captain of the prestigious K Club in Straffan, Co Kildare

Our thoughts are with John's wife Caroline, his son Jonathan and his extended family.
