Submissions for 2025 are now closed.

Please read the Eligibility Criteria here.

Submitted titles will be considered by the book-industry panel and the critics and reviewers panel and the composition of the shortlists will be announced 30th October. Successful publishers will be notified confidentially in advance. Due to the volume of submissions we regret that we cannot undertake to notify unsuccessful publishers. 

For the first time submissions for Gradam Love Leabhar Gaeilge Leabhar Ficsin Gaeilge na Bliana will be taken below.

The An Post Irish Book Awards is once again partnering with the Irish Independent for the ‘New Irish Writing’ poetry and short story categories – please see the eligibility criteria page for more information.

 An Post Irish Book Awards Gala Dinner & Awards Ceremony – 27th November

There will be a levy of €255 for each shortlisted title. The levy is to cover the costs of the overall project management, publicity and design, printing and distribution of the point of sale. Based on an increase in the level of media exposure including; integration into the An Post Irish Book of the Year RTÉ  One TV programme, there will also be a winner levy – the exact amount is still to be confirmed.

All award categories are subject to change, dependent on the quantity and quality of the overall submissions in each. Categories could be cut or added to at the discretion of the organisers.

Consent must be obtained from authors, illustrators and any contributors by publishers before submitting titles.
