A speculative novel about friendship and challenges in Year 19 in the New Age, a time when life as we know it has ended and the population lives in a Biosphere around the world. A novel suitable for teenagers and adults.
Emma and Zara are based in Biosphere 9. On Emma’s birthday, aged seventeen, she is chosen for the most important course in college, according to the Authorities. But what will happen to her friend, Zara, who is not as smart as her? Will she be sent to Fetus Farm to be a seed?
Celia de Fréine is a poet, playwright and screenwriter who writes in Irish and English.
She was born in Newtownards, County Down and moved to Dublin as a child. Retaining strong links with Northern Ireland, she spent most of her summers with her extended family in Donaghadee.
She now divides her time between Dublin and Connemara.
